Cloud Migration — Move to AWS, GCP, or Azure with Zero Downtime

73% of enterprises are migrating workloads to the cloud, but 65% of migrations exceed budget or timeline. WebDirect provides structured, zero-downtime cloud migrations — from discovery to post-migration optimization. We've migrated fintech platforms, SaaS applications, and government services to AWS and GCP, reducing infrastructure costs by 30–50% on average.

What is Cloud Migration?

Cloud migration is the process of moving on-premise servers, databases, applications, and data to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) or between cloud providers. A successful migration involves more than 'lifting and shifting' VMs — it requires network redesign, security policy updates, database migration strategies, cut-over planning, and post-migration optimization. Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) allocates €2.08 billion for government cloud and digital systems, reflecting the region's strategic commitment to cloud adoption. Moldova's IT Park ecosystem, generating $1 billion in 2025 turnover, has deep cloud expertise built through projects for international clients.

Why Migrate to the Cloud?

30–50% Cost Reduction

Replacing owned servers with right-sized cloud instances, reserved capacity pricing, and auto-scaling eliminates over-provisioning waste and typically reduces total infrastructure cost by 30–50%.

Romania's NRRP Cloud Push

Romania is investing €2.08 billion in government cloud through the NRRP. Organizations aligned with cloud-first strategies are better positioned for public procurement and partnership opportunities.

Auto-Scaling for Traffic Spikes

Cloud infrastructure scales horizontally in seconds during traffic peaks and scales back down when demand drops — you pay only for what you use, with no over-provisioning.

Global Reach & Low Latency

Deploy in EU regions (Frankfurt, London, Warsaw, Paris) to serve European users with <20ms latency, with built-in CDN and edge caching for static assets.

Managed Services Reduce Ops Burden

RDS, Cloud SQL, EKS, and Cloud Run replace self-managed databases and servers, reducing your team's operational overhead by 40–60% on routine maintenance tasks.

GDPR & EU Compliance Built In

Major cloud providers offer EU data residency guarantees, SOC 2 / ISO 27001 certified infrastructure, and GDPR-compliant data processing agreements — simplifying regulatory compliance.

Our 4-Phase Cloud Migration Process

01

Discovery & Assessment (2–4 weeks)

Infrastructure audit, application dependency mapping, TCO analysis comparing on-premise vs. cloud costs, security review, and production of a migration strategy document with risk assessment.

02

Architecture & Landing Zone (2–4 weeks)

Cloud architecture design, landing zone setup (VPC, subnets, IAM policies, security groups), network topology, compliance framework selection, and Terraform module creation for all resources.

03

Migration Execution (1–4 months)

Phased migration with documented rollback plans, database migration with minimal downtime (online replication for live databases), blue-green DNS cutover, and staged traffic shifting to validate stability.

04

Optimization & Handover

Post-migration cost optimization (reserved instances, right-sizing, storage tiering), auto-scaling setup, monitoring dashboards, documentation, team knowledge transfer, and 30-day hypercare support.

Cloud Migration FAQ

How long does a cloud migration take?
Timeline depends on complexity. A single application with one database migrates in 2–4 weeks. A multi-tier platform with 10–20 services and a live database typically takes 2–3 months. Enterprise environments with legacy applications, compliance requirements, and zero-tolerance for downtime can take 3–6 months. We deliver a timeline estimate after the discovery phase.
How much does cloud migration cost?
Migration cost depends on the scope: a single application starts from €2,000 for the migration project. A full platform migration is typically €5,000–€20,000+ for the engagement, with an expected 30–50% reduction in ongoing infrastructure costs that usually delivers positive ROI within 6–12 months.
Can you migrate without any downtime?
Yes. For databases, we use online replication (AWS DMS, GCP Database Migration Service) to keep source and target in sync until a final cutover of usually less than 30 seconds. For applications, we use blue-green DNS switching with pre-validation in the new environment. Our typical production cutover window is under 15 minutes.
Should I choose AWS, GCP, or Azure?
AWS is the market leader with the broadest service catalog — best for most workloads. GCP excels for data and ML workloads, and Kubernetes (GKE is the most mature managed K8s). Azure is the natural choice if you're a Microsoft-heavy organization using Active Directory, .NET, or Office 365. We work with all three and recommend based on your existing tech stack and team knowledge.
What happens to our data during migration?
For databases, we use online replication so data is never solely in transit — the source database remains primary until the cutover moment. For files and object storage, we use parallel sync tools that transfer data in the background before the cutover. All data in transit and at rest is encrypted. We document the data lineage and provide checksums for validation.
Do you provide post-migration support?
Yes. All migrations include 30 days of hypercare support after the cutover — we monitor closely for performance regressions, cost anomalies, or stability issues. We also offer ongoing cloud management as a DevOps as a Service engagement for clients who want continued operational support.
